Federal By-elections July 28 2018

A super Saturday of five Federal by-elections

As you know, there is a lot hanging on the by-elections for both the major parties, so we anticipate that high profile politicians will visit the main booths in each electorate on Saturday 28 July most likely with TV crews on their trail and most likely between 10.00am – 2.00pm.

A well placed banner calling for the closure of the camps on Nauru and Manus, or any other ‘justice for refugees’ message, might just make it into a news story.

Having got reasonable media coverage from the  5 Years Too Long  12 Deaths Too Many actions and rallies on the weekend  this would be a great follow-up.

NB: this would be a silent protest action as there are rules about canvassing  with the aim of influencing votes.  See https://www.aec.gov.au/About_AEC/Publications/backgrounders/polling-places-offences.htm for details.
